1. What is Rush?
Rush is a recruitment period, an opportunity for you to meet the brothers of Pi Delta Psi. By throwing events for interested students to attend, we hope to provide an opportunity for you to get to know the brothers better and to learn more about the fraternity. There is absolutely no obligation during the recruitment period. Recruitment merely provides a comfortable means through which students who are interested in our fraternity can ask questions and interacts with the brothers while having fun at the same time. It also provides a great opportunity for us to show the student body how Pi Delta Psi remains active in the community in pursuit of the goals our fraternity was founded upon.
2. What is Pi Delta Psi?
The mission of Pi Delta Psi Fraternity, Inc. is to maintain its Fraternal existence by instilling values that nurture and perpetuate the continual growth and development of the individual through Academic Achievement, Cultural Awareness, Righteousness, Friendship and Loyalty while fostering ethical behavior, leadership, and philanthropy. Pi Delta Psi was founded on these principles to help promote Asian Awareness amongst ourselves and throughout the community. We envisioned this to be possible by going out of the boundaries of an organization and creating a Fraternity on the basis of common goals and ideals in the form of a brotherhood. We believe that through education, we can become more knowledgeable about the different Asian cultures, overcome obstacles of racism and discrimination, therefore unifying us as a whole. This mission statement embodies the purpose of our Fraternity and is set forth as a guide that empowers each member to better himself, the Brotherhood, community, and society as a whole.
3. Why Pi Delta Psi?
- Pi Delta Psi is the first and only Asian Cultural Fraternity recognized on campus.
- Pi Delta Psi brothers nationwide have learned skills valuable in the work field. Pi Delta Psi brothers have co-oped, interned or worked employers such as IBM, Fujifilm, General Electric Corporation, Merrill Lynch, Con Edison, Goldman Sachs, etc.
- We are the fastest growing organization of its kind – 10 Chapters and Colonies in our first 5 years. Currently we span 20 chapters, 2 associate chapters and 6 colonies.
- Learn about other Asian cultures and share your knowledge with others.
- There is never a dull moment – We hold numerous social and cultural events throughout the year and throughout the country. Brotherhood is Eternal – You can always count on your Brothers.
- After graduation, the opportunities only get better with our network of Alumni.
- Mixers and Socials with other Sororities and Greeks.
- Unlimited opportunities to meet new people.
- Leadership opportunities.
4. Do you only accept Asians?
Pi Delta Psi is an Asian-interest cultural fraternity that seeks to educate others about our different heritages. One of the best ways to learn about these cultures is to pledge Pi Delta Psi. Anybody from any ethnicity who is interested in learning more about Asian culture and who has a desire to help spread cultural understanding is welcome in our fraternity. Pi Delta Psi has Asian, Caucasian, Latino, and African-American brothers across the nation, and members of Pi Delta Psi are proud to call men of any ethnicity who complete the pledging process their brother.
5. Isn’t there more to college than a fraternity?
Yes. Although the fraternity opens the student up to a limitless amount of activities and events, we do not see fraternity life as a replacement for other activities on campus, but the perfect compliment. Becoming a member of Pi Delta Psi will in no way ever stop you from participating in other organizations; in fact, many of our brothers are members of other student associations and regularly interact with and deal with several organizations on campus.
6. How would fraternity life affect my grades?
Fraternity life should in no way hurt your grades. In fact, it can help in many ways. Pi Delta Psi knows that students come to college to receive an education, and as such, the fraternity does everything it can to help the academic success of its brothers. One of the pillars of Pi Delta Psi is Academic Achievement, and Pi Delta Psi chapters employ Academic Chairs to help or find help for students who may need assistance in their studies. The fraternity is an incredibly valuable academic resource for its brothers, as brothers are often able to help each other with their classes.
